In WordPress, the status of a post determines its visibility and availability to the public. A post can have different status types, and each status determines how the post will be treated by WordPress and who can see it.

Types of WordPress Post Status

There are six (06) types of WordPress post status that you can set for your post types:

  1. Draft: This is the default status of a post that is being created but is not yet ready to be published. Draft posts are not visible to the public, and only the author and administrators can view them.
  2. Pending Review: When a post is submitted for review, it is given the “pending review” post status. This status indicates that the post is awaiting approval from an administrator or editor before it can be published. Pending review posts are not visible to the public, and only the author and administrators can view them.
  3. Published: A post with the “published” status is live and visible to the public. Published posts can be viewed by anyone who visits the website.
  4. Private: A post with the “private” status is visible only to the author and website administrators. Private posts are not visible to the public, and they do not appear in the website’s search results.
  5. Scheduled: A post with the “scheduled” status is set to be published at a specific time and date in the future. Scheduled posts are not visible to the public until the scheduled time and date.
  6. Trash: A post with the “trash” status is deleted but can still be recovered for a limited period of time. Deleted posts are not visible to the public, and they are only visible to website administrators.

Understanding the different post status types in WordPress can help website owners and content creators to manage their content more effectively. By selecting the right post status for each post, website owners can ensure that their content is visible to the right people at the right time.
